Light Calcium Stearate

Light Calcium Stearate

Item No Pcs 101
SPECIFICATION

Light Calcium Stearate is one of the most widely used metallic soaps and calcium salts of stearic acid. It is produced by reacting stearic acid with calcium compounds and is known by the chemical formula Ca(C₁₈H₃₅O₂)₂. This product is a white, light, odorless powder with a uniform appearance and is considered non-toxic from a physiological point of view. It is widely used across many industries as a safe and functional industrial additive. Calcium stearate is insoluble in water and most common solvents, but at higher temperatures it can partially disperse in oils, waxes, and certain special solvents. Its good stability, compatibility with different materials, and reliable performance make it suitable for a wide range of industrial formulations.

Light Calcium Stearate has lubricating, water-repellent, and anti-sticking properties. It reduces friction between particles and equipment surfaces, improves powder flow, and prevents materials from sticking to molds and processing equipment. It also works as a mold release agent, making it easier to separate finished products from molds. Its good thermal stability allows it to perform well in high-temperature processing. In addition, it helps reduce moisture absorption, prevents powder caking, and improves product stability and shelf life. It is also compatible with polymers such as PVC, polyethylene, and polypropylene, which makes it widely used in plastic processing.

In applications, Calcium Stearate is widely used in the plastics industry as a lubricant, mold release agent, and processing aid in PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, and other thermoplastics. It improves extrusion, injection molding, and shaping processes. In the rubber industry, it enhances mixing, reduces sticking, and improves the dispersion of fillers and additives. In the construction industry, it is used as a water-repellent additive in cement, gypsum, dry mortars, and other building materials, helping to reduce water absorption and improve durability.

In paints and coatings, Calcium Stearate helps improve pigment dispersion, increases coating uniformity, enhances surface quality, and contributes to smoother finishes. In some formulations, it also acts as a matting and anti-settling agent. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a lubricant and processing aid in tablet and capsule production, preventing materials from sticking to equipment. In the food industry, it is used in permitted applications as an anti-caking agent and flow improver for powders. In cosmetics and personal care products, it improves texture, stability, and prevents clumping in powdered formulations.

Because of its multi-functional performance, low cost, ease of use, and broad compatibility with many raw materials, Light Calcium Stearate has become an important additive in plastics, rubber, construction, paints, pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetic industries.
