Antioxidant 802 is a phenolic secondary antioxidant used to improve long-term thermal stability (LTTS) in polymers. This compound is based on Dioctadecyl 3,3'-Thiodipropionate and plays an effective role in preventing thermal and oxidative degradation during processing and use.
It functions as a general thermal stabilizer, used alongside primary phenolic antioxidants and UV absorbers, and significantly enhances the chemical stability of polymers through a synergistic effect.
Properties of Antioxidant 802:
· Thioester structure with high antioxidant performance
· High melting point and low volatility
· Resistance to heat- and oxygen-induced degradation
· Approved for use in food contact applications
Applications:
· Polymers requiring long-term thermal stability
· Polyethylene (PE) power cables
· XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) cables
· HDPE pipes
· Polypropylene (PP)
· Polyolefins used in automotive engines
· Styrene homopolymers and copolymers such as PS and ABS
It is also used as an antioxidant additive in lubricating oils.
