Dioctyl Adipate (DOA)

Item No DOA
SPECIFICATION

Dioctyl adipate (DOA) is an organic compound from the group of carboxylic acid esters and is considered one of the most important plasticizers in the polymer industry, especially in PVC production. It is produced by the direct reaction of adipic acid with 2-ethylhexanol, resulting in an ester with low viscosity and easy processability. Dioctyl adipate is a clear, colorless liquid that is insoluble in water but compatible with most organic solvents and is commonly used together with other plasticizers in PVC formulations.

Due to its excellent compatibility with PVC and vinyl chloride copolymers, this plasticizer increases product flexibility without changing the chemical structure of the polymer. One of the most important features of dioctyl adipate (DOA) is its outstanding performance at low temperatures, which is why it is known as a cold-resistant plasticizer. Products containing DOA retain their softness and flexibility in cold conditions and do not become brittle. In addition, it provides high plasticizing efficiency and performs well even at elevated temperatures.

Dioctyl adipate (DOA) has low viscosity and is easy to process, making its use in industrial production both simple and economical. It is often used in combination with primary plasticizers such as DOP and DBP to optimize the final properties of the product. Functionally, dioctyl adipate (DOA) can improve surface softness, enhance crack resistance, and provide a smoother finish. Its good stability and long-term property retention make it suitable for many demanding applications.

Dioctyl adipate is used in a wide range of PVC and polymer products, including food packaging films, hoses, cables, coatings, artificial leather, plastic sheets, water pipes, lacquers, paints, resins, and even certain industrial applications such as candle making. Thanks to its excellent cold resistance, it is especially widely used in low-temperature agricultural films, frozen food packaging, and outdoor products.

DOA enhances flexibility and durability of polymers, particularly in PVC applications.
